About Berlin
Berlin has been the capital of Germany since 1990, when Berlin again became the capital of a reunified Germany; it had been the capital of Prussia and then of the German Empire from 1871, and was divided during the Cold War, with the government returning from Bonn through the 1990s.
Berlin is Germany's largest city and one of the most populous in the European Union.
It was split by the Berlin Wall from 1961 until 1989, and the federal government's move back from Bonn was completed by 1999.
