About Juba
Juba was established in 1920 and 1921 by the Church Missionary Society, at a small Bari village of the same name, and became the capital of Mongalla Province in the late 1920s.
Juba has been the capital of South Sudan since 2011, the year South Sudan became independent.
The town's growth accelerated after the Comprehensive Peace Agreement of 2005, which made Juba the capital of the Autonomous Government of Southern Sudan.
