About the Europe flag quiz
The Europe flag quiz covers the 45 sovereign states of Europe that have a capital, the same 45 flags as the printable Europe flag quiz. A round is 10 or 25 flags, or all 45 in one go, and Lookalikes is on from the start: the wrong options are European flags with the same layout and overlapping colour families, so every answer rests on the details rather than on a lucky guess.
By the layout and colour data computed from the flag files, 22 of the 45 flags use horizontal stripes, 10 use vertical stripes and 13 use another design. Red appears in 35 of them, white in 29 and blue in 23.
The same data puts the following flags together, which is why they keep turning up as each other’s wrong answers:
- Seven flags with horizontal stripes in red, blue and white: Croatia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.
- Four flags with horizontal stripes in red and white: Austria, Latvia, Monaco and Poland.
- Four flags with a red, blue and white design other than plain stripes: Czechia, Iceland, Norway and United Kingdom.
- Two flags with a yellow and blue design other than plain stripes: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sweden.
Switch on Territories to add eight more flags: Åland Islands, Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey, Kosovo and Svalbard and Jan Mayen.
