About the capitals quiz
The capitals quiz shows a country and its flag and asks for the capital, with four options to choose from. It covers the 194 sovereign states that have a capital, 10 or 25 at a time or all 194 in one go, and the Region menu narrows it to one of 9 regions: Africa, Asia, Europe, Americas, Oceania, Caribbean, South America, Middle East or Eastern Europe. Set Ask for to the country to turn it around: the quiz then shows a capital and you name the country it belongs to.
Where a country lists more than one capital, the quiz asks for the first one listed: Mbabane for Eswatini, which also lists Lobamba; Pretoria for South Africa, which also lists Bloemfontein and Cape Town; Colombo for Sri Lanka, which also lists Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte. The other capitals of that country are never used as its wrong answers, so there is always one right option.
With Lookalikes on, the three wrong options are capitals from the same continent, so a guess cannot lean on geography alone. Size is no help either: in 35 countries the capital is not the largest city, as the capital vs largest city list shows. Switch on Territories to add 51 territories and other areas that list a capital of their own.
Look up any answer in the full list of capital cities, or switch to flags in the flag quiz. Every right answer also adds the country’s flag to your collection.
