What is the capital of Tunisia?
Tunis sits on the Gulf of Tunis behind the Lake of Tunis and the port of La Goulette, spreading over the coastal plain and the hills around it.
Tunis is the capital and seat of government of Tunisia. Tunisia itself has an estimated population of 12,348,573 (2025).
Tunis is also the largest city in Tunisia, which is the usual arrangement, though it is far from universal: see the countries where capital and largest city differ.
