About Roseau
The town grew from a French settlement named after the river reeds, 'roseaux' in French, that grew along the riverbanks; a fort was built there in 1699.
Roseau is Dominica's most important port for foreign trade, exporting bananas, citrus, vegetables, cocoa and bay oil.
It is one of the smallest capital cities in the Americas.
